Do not spot your clothing.
Products like club soda or hairspray can actually set the stain and pull color from the fabric. When a stain occurs, take the item to the drycleaner as soon as possible and without home treatment.

Use perfumes, deodorants carefully.
These products, and other toiletries, may contain chemicals that can affect some clothing dyes. Be sure to use these products before dressing.

Keep sets together when cleaning.

Laundering matching items at the same time, like suits, sweater sets, bedspreads, pillowcases, curtains, etc., will ensure that the set wear evenly. One piece will not be more faded than any of the others.
